To us, celebrating National Assisted Living Week is more important than ever because this year has shown irrefutably how essential these communities, and in particular the caregivers, are to seniors across the country. That’s why the theme, “Caring is EssentiAL” is so relevant now. Across our communities, team members have put caring first not only for our residents but also for each other as we’ve faced these challenging times together. Here’s how we’re honoring their efforts to go above and beyond.

Are you caring for a loved one yourself? At Vitality, we know it isn’t easy. That’s why we created a resource to help make caregiving days go a little more smoothly. The Caregiver’s Checklist: Supporting an Aging Parent covers a wide variety of topics ranging from creating a safe home environment to how to recognize the signs a senior needs more assistance. About National Assisted Living Week

This annual event was established by the National Center for Assisted Living in 1995 to encourage communities around the country to recognize their team and residents, as well as to educate on the benefits of this type of senior living. This year’s event takes place September 13–19.

We believe the educational aspect of the week is also incredibly important now. Because in addition to housing and support with daily activities as well as conveniences such as housekeeping and daily meals, assisted living also provides connection and peace of mind which is crucial to seniors and their families during COVID-19.

Not only do residents have everything they need under one roof so they don’t have to go into public spaces, our strong supply chain means you’ll never worry about out-of-stock necessities and 24-hour staffing ensures prompt assistance for any symptoms. What’s more, we have ample resources to keep residents engaged through technology, small groups and individual opportunities. Quite simply, even though there may be some physical distance between us, you’re never alone in assisted living!

National Assisted Living Week at Vitality

Although COVID-19 has affected virtually every aspect of life across the country and beyond, we remain 100 percent committed to our vision of creating vibrant assisted living communities where residents thrive, families engage and team members are proud to work. And it’s those team members, and their tireless dedication on the front lines since the pandemic began, that have been essential in bringing this vision to reality. They deserve our thanks (and to have a little fun)!

While adhering to safety requirements and precautions in place for COVID-19, this week’s activities will include:

Be sure to also check your local community’s Facebook page to see residents and team members enjoying the week!

Continuing the Celebration

Caring first is exemplified by our team throughout the year so we thought it fitting to honor them beyond National Assisted Living Week too. After all they’re our heroes! In fact, we created our own holiday for them, Vital Heroes Day, which we will continue to celebrate each year. This video shows just how much these caregivers mean to us, our residents and their families.
